Secondhand Serenade

Secondhand Serenade founded the project in 2004 in Menlo Park, California.

Vesely began his musical career as a bass player for various bands from the fields of ska, rock and hardcore. It was not until 2004 that he left this path and from now on he was busy writing his own songs, which he himself accompanied with an acoustic guitar.

In the summer of 2005 he recorded his first album “Awake”. The complete cost for the eight-day studio stay was taken over by Vesely himself. The artist’s name, which only emerged after completing the recordings, was deliberately chosen so as to suggest a multi-headed band rather than a singer / composer. This should avoid the typical image of a solo-skimmer in order to highlight the versatility of the project.

Secondhand Serenade became famous in the 2006 MySpace website, where Vesely offered his songs for audition. After a few months, he reached position 1 in the MySpace-Charts of the bands without a fixed label. In addition, he offered his album for purchase in the online music store iTunes, which he also entered the Top100 charts.

Due to the continuing success in online platforms, Vesely signed a contract with the newly founded music label Glassnote Records at the end of 2006.

As a result, two more songs were released in early 2007, with the album “Awake” on 6 February officially released as a CD in the USA. In addition, a music video was created for the song “Vulnerable”, which was filmed and directed by Frank Borin (known as the director of other artists such as Red Hot Chili Peppers or Eminem).

Already in the middle of 2007 began the recordings to the successor album “A Twist In My Story”, which appeared in February 2008. For the first time, Vesely did not play his own songs, but was supported by a band.

In August 2010 the third studio album “Hear Me Now” was released.

At the beginning of 2012 Vesely announced to be separated from Glassnote. He justified this with the intention to concentrate on the music without being influenced by “industrial policy, expectations and pressure”. With the support of donations, the album “A Naked Twist In My Story” was released in September. This includes all tracks from “A Twist In My Story”, which have now been re-played acoustically or with orchestral support. In addition, Vesely announced the release of another studio album for 2012.
