Songwriter Max Bemis founded Say Anything 2000 with four friends. The two first EPs Junior Varsity and Menorah / Mejora and the album Baseball were produced and distributed over the Internet.
In 2003, they signed their first contract with Doghouse Records and a year later released the album … Is a Real Boy, produced by punk producer Tim O’Heir. During the recording, singer Max Bemis suffered a nervous breakdown, which he traced back to stress. Later, it was known that he suffers from a bipolar disorder. To spread the album, the band took on new members and began a tour. But despite the fan’s approval and encouragement, the band slipped aside due to Max Bemis’ health problems as several members left the band.
In 2005, the band signed a contract with J Records, a subsidiary of Sony BMG Music Entertainment, and released, following the successful rehabilitation of Max Bemis, … What a Real Boy, a bonus disc to the album … Is a Real Boy . On 23 October 2007, they released the double album In Defense of the Genre. In 2008 they began a tour across the USA and England. They appeared every day of the Warped Tour. Their fourth, self-titled album Say Anything was released on November 3,
The current cast of Say Anything consists of Max Bemis (vocals), Coby Linder (drums), Alex Kent (bass), Jake Turner (guitar, vocals), Jeff Turner (guitar, vocals) and Parker Case.
