Marilyn Manson is an American rock band. Your frontman Brian Hugh Warner is called Marilyn Manson as an artist name. Since he is the dominant personality, both within the group as well as in the media, one refers to the name Marilyn Manson often the person Warner. Both the band and artist name Marilyn Manson and the artist name of many band members (Daisy Berkowitz, Madonna Wayne Gacy, Twiggy Ramirez, Sara Lee Lucas, Olivia Newton Bundy, Ginger Fish, Gidget Gein) are compositions from the name of an icon (Marilyn Monroe, Madonna) on the one hand and a mass or serial killer on the other hand (John Wayne Gacy, Richard Ramirez, Henry Lee Lucas, Albert Fish, Ted Bundy, Charles Manson). This is the inseparable unity of good and evil to be clarified.
The band was founded in 1989 and changed the course of time several times the band members. So constantly changing the line up of the band, and thus also the sound. As a group, Marilyn Manson began in Tampa Bay, Florida under the name Marilyn Manson & the Spooky Kids. Their performances were less dark style of the later years, but rather an animated character with punk influences. At first they were over Florida also hardly known until they were mentioned by Trent Reznor (Nine Inch Nails), which Manson met during his work as a music journalist. Marilyn Manson’s first album Portrait of an American Family appeared at Nothing Records, a label of Trent Reznor. There was a joint tour of the two bands.
Members of the group are mostly dressed unusually grotesque and unconventional. Their fan base grew mainly by shocking appearances in public, as they were used earlier in contemporary form of KISS or Alice Cooper. The mixture of their notoriety, their music and such performances led to protests, constant attacks of the religious right, and finally appearance prohibitions in some US cities. In addition, the band in the American press for “Columbine Massacre” was blamed at a high school. However, it turned out that the bombers were not fans of Marilyn Manson and the criticism was totally unjustified. Because of these accusations the band for three months withdrew and pondered whether and how it should go. Marilyn Manson then wrote the song “Disposable Teens”. Even outside the music scene Manson was known for his brief appearance in the documentary Bowling for Columbine, when he presents the allegations in question and represents the bigotry of American society and blames. In 2003 came Marilyn Manson’s fifth studio album The Golden Age of Grotesque in the record stores, the first of two albums that he did not write with Twiggy Ramirez, but with Skold. Then in 2004 the first best-of entitled “Lest We Forget”. After three-year break appeared on 1 June 2007 the new album titled “Eat Me, Drink Me”. The first single “Heart-Shaped Glasses (When the Heart Guides the Hand)” went on sale on May 25 of 2007.
For the “Eat Me, Drink Me Tour 2007” took Skold the guitar, Rob Holliday bass, Ginger Fish, the drums and Chris Vrenna the keyboard. Madonna Wayne Gacy, who actually is on keyboards, is currently not in the band. It is currently unclear whether Pogo leave the band or has taken only a temporary break. On January 9, 2008, announced on the official website of Marilyn Manson and a bulletin in Myspace that to “Holy Wood” acting as the main songwriter of the band Twiggy Ramirez of the band is joined again, and on the “Rape the World Tour “once again the role of the bass player will take over. According to the message Skold had left the band by mutual agreement and a renewed collaboration in the future is not excluded. It is replaced by a new guitarist Rob Holliday. On 22 May 2009, the eighth album “The High End of Low” on which has the collaboration with Twiggy Ramirez already dejected appeared. Since no suitable guitarist was found, Twiggy Ramirez moved to the guitar and the place bassist joined Andy Gerold (ex- Ashes Divide).
The musical style of the band is hard to be limited to one genre, because different types of music and influences are combined, about industrial rock, hard rock, alternative rock and elements of metal.
