Dolly Rebecca Parton (born January 19, 1946 in Sevierville, Sevier County, Tennessee) is an American country music singer, songwriter and actress. Parton has been more than 40 years one of the most successful singers in the range country and pop music, had the only singer 25 No. 1, 55 Top.-10- and 88 Top. 40 hits in the country charts, selling more than 100 million records and won eight Grammys.

Biography

Dolly Parton was born in 1946 as the fourth of twelve children of Robert Lee Parton and Avie Lee Owens and spent her youth in the Smoky Mountains in Tennessee. In one of her biggest hits, which published in 1971 Coat Of Many Colors, she tells of the poor, but happy life circumstances of their childhood. At the age of seven, she learned to play guitar. Three years later, she entered for the first time in public, with 13 she made her debut at the Grand Ole Opry.

On 30 May 1966 Parton married in Ringgold, Georgia Carl Dean. She is godmother of actress and singer Miley Cyrus.

Career

After her graduation in 1964, she moved to Nashville, where she worked as a songwriter. Discovered and sponsored sent from country star Porter Wagoner, who had found their first single Dumb Blonde favor and a singer for his TV show was looking for.
